Faulkner County Museum

The Faulkner County Museum is located on the Historic Faulkner County Courthouse Grounds, off of Locust Street, in downtown Conway, Arkansas.  Our home is in the historic jail, constructed in 1896.

The Museum was founded in 1992, opened to the public in 1997, and is currently celebrating its 24th year.  We showcase items from Faulkner County prehistory and history as well as maintain six major types of collections, including archival and documentary materials, art by Faulkner County artists, a teaching collection, an image collection, a research and reference collection, and a collection of historic and prehistoric objects.

Persons wishing to research their family history, or Faulkner county history are welcome to visit the museum and use our research and archival collections.  We have records from the Doolin Funeral Home, and the Roller-McNutt Funeral Home.  Other research materials available to the public include some city directories, telephone books dating to the 1920s, local school yearbooks, the Fausett Studio Photograph Collection, the Crank Studio Photograph Collection, obituary files, some family history publications, and limited surname and subject files.

Museum staff and volunteers are available to speak to civic and school groups, on topics of Faulkner County prehistory and history, to do living history demonstrations, or to lead interpretive lectures at the historically significant Cadron Settlement Park.  You can obtain more information by calling the Museum.

Stop by and visit, we guarantee you'll enjoy the best kept secret in Faulkner County!

The Museum is open to the public Monday through Thursday, 9 am to 4 pm.  Please call 501-329-5918 for more information and directions.
